CAIRO - 6 October 2025: Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Hassan El-Khatib, revealed that the country has received investment requests from major international automotive companies aiming to produce vehicles in Egypt for export markets.
Speaking at a conference organized by the Engineering Export Council of Egypt (EEC) on the future of the engineering industries and exports, El-Khatib emphasized that the government is prioritizing support for the automotive sector as part of its broader strategy to localize car manufacturing and strengthen Egypt’s position as a regional hub for production and export.
The minister added that current government efforts are focused on enhancing competitiveness, with the goal of positioning Egypt among the top 50 countries globally in terms of trade performance.
He further stressed the importance of achieving balance in trade relations by targeting key export markets.
“We have a clear plan to boost trade with African nations while also working to expand our presence in other important markets such as Europe,” El-Khatib noted.
For his part, Shereef El-Sayed, Chairman of the Engineering Export Council of Egypt, stated that the sector’s exports have achieved an average annual growth rate of 26 percent over the past five years, underscoring its growing contribution to Egypt’s non-oil exports and industrial development.
