CAIRO – 26 August 2025: Remittances from Egyptians working abroad recorded unprecedented levels in June 2025, climbing by 40.7 percent year-on-year to about $3.6 billion, compared to $2.6 billion in June 2024.
Data from the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) showed that inflows reached an all-time high during the 2024/2025 fiscal year, totaling nearly $36.5 billion — a 66.2 percent increase from $21.9 billion in the previous year.
The upward trend extended into the final quarter of FY2024/2025 (April–June), when remittances rose by 34.2 percent year-on-year to $10 billion, up from $7.5 billion in the same period of 2024.
Between January and May 2025, remittances surged by 59 percent year-on-year, reaching around $15.8 billion, compared to $9.9 billion in the corresponding months of 2024.
On a monthly basis, May 2025 alone registered a 24.2 percent annual increase, with remittances hitting nearly $3.4 billion, versus about $2.7 billion a year earlier — the highest-ever inflow recorded for the month of May.
