New Alamein - 20 July 2025: Germany’s Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development highlighted the strategic partnership between Egypt and Germany during her first official visit abroad since assuming office.

In a joint press conference in New Alamein, the minister reaffirmed Egypt’s central role in regional stability and the Gaza reconstruction process, noting: “Egypt remains a key partner for Germany. We are committed to expanding cooperation in energy, water, and private sector growth.”

The minister also expressed strong support for the Arab reconstruction plan for Gaza, co-developed by Egypt, the Palestinian Authority, and the Arab League. “Gaza lies in ruins, 90% of buildings destroyed. Rebuilding will require a massive international effort, and Germany is ready to engage, in coordination with Egypt,” she said.

She called for an immediate and lasting ceasefire, the unconditional release of all hostages, including German citizens, and unrestricted humanitarian access into Gaza.

She also emphasized Germany’s opposition to any forced displacement or reduction of Palestinian territory.

The visit also explored deeper cooperation in skilled labor migration and vocational training. “We are looking forward to showcasing our joint projects at COP in Brazil,” she noted.

The minister concluded by affirming her belief in the long-term future of German-Egyptian cooperation: “Our shared vision for peace, development, and investment sets a strong foundation for the years ahead.”
