Egyptian workers abroad sent home record-breaking remittances between July and March of the fiscal year 2024/2025, according to a statement from the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).

The statement revealed that remittances soared by 82.7 percent year-on-year, reaching approximately $26.4 billion, compared to around $14.4 billion during the same period of the previous fiscal year.

The third quarter saw particularly strong growth. From January to March 2025, remittances jumped by 86.6 percent year-on-year, totaling around $9.4 billion, up from about $5 billion during the same quarter last year.

On a monthly basis, the upward trend remained sharp. In March 2025, remittances climbed by 63.7 percent year-on-year to reach approximately $3.4 billion, compared to $2.1 billion in March 2024.

This remarkable surge underscores the increasing financial role of Egyptians working abroad and signals growing confidence in the country’s banking sector amid broader economic reforms.
