Cairo – March 17, 2025: Adel El-Naggar, Governor of Giza, and Hossam Heiba, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), recently held talks to explore new investment prospects along Egypt’s Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road and the Bahariya Oasis.

They decided to highlight these opportunities on Egypt's investment map to increase their visibility to potential investors.

Governor El-Naggar highlighted the significant strides made in the region's infrastructure, particularly the improvement of roads, which have boosted the investment potential of many areas in Giza.

Notably, the Bahariya Oasis and the stretch of the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road between Sphinx Airport and the Grand Egyptian Museum are seeing increased interest due to these developments. The Governor emphasized that these advancements have significantly increased the investment value of these areas.

Among the key investment opportunities identified are sectors such as agricultural production, food industries, tourism and hospitality, as well as logistics.

The region’s natural reserves, which are popular for safari and exploration activities, are complemented by around 400 natural springs that could be developed for therapeutic tourism. The Governor’s office is seeking environmentally friendly investments that will support the government’s broader development goals for the region.

In his remarks, El-Naggar praised the ongoing collaboration with the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, which has played a critical role in facilitating the presentation of investment opportunities. The Authority's technical and promotional resources, including its online investment map, have been pivotal in simplifying the process for investors, he said.

Heiba also discussed the incentives available for eco-tourism and therapeutic tourism projects. He outlined the Authority’s commitment to promoting the Bahariya Oasis as a key destination for both domestic and international tourists.

With its proximity to Cairo and Sphinx airports, the region’s potential for therapeutic tourism, particularly medical tourism, is significant.

Heiba also pointed to increasing demand for investment in the logistics sector, including storage, packaging, and redistribution services, to serve the Greater Cairo area. He emphasized that the Authority’s management of investment zones reduces the time investors need to complete procedures by up to 80 percent, which he called a major factor in attracting investment to the region.
