CAIRO - 8 December 2024: Egypt's trade with Denmark surged to $292 million during the first ten months of 2024, reflecting a substantial increase from $240 million during the same period in 2023, according to data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS). The growth highlights strengthening economic ties and increased activity in both exports and imports.
Egyptian exports to Denmark totaled $63 million between January and October 2024, up from $45 million in the corresponding period of 2023. Meanwhile, imports from Denmark grew to $229 million, compared to $195 million in the same period of the previous year.
Among Egypt’s key exports to Denmark were electrical machinery and equipment, valued at $23 million, alongside ready-made garments worth $13 million. Other notable exports included food industry waste and animal feed amounting to $12 million, vegetables and fruits at $8 million, and prepared vegetable and fruit products valued at $5 million.
On the import side, pharmaceutical products dominated Egypt’s purchases from Denmark, totaling $75 million. Machinery and electrical appliances accounted for $64 million, while glues and adhesives were valued at $20 million. Imports also included various food preparations worth $12 million and dairy products valued at $11 million.
Danish investments in Egypt also saw notable growth, reaching $9.2 million during the 2022/2023 fiscal year, up from $6.3 million in 2021/2022. Additionally, remittances from Egyptians working in Denmark increased to $13.2 million in 2022/2023, compared to $11.4 million in the previous fiscal year. Conversely, remittances from Danes working in Egypt fell to $394,000 from $552,000 during the same period.
