CAIRO – 23 July 2017:The rate of transmitting a vehicle from diesel to natural gas vehicle (NGV) surged to more than 250 percent daily, Chairman of Egyptian International Gas Technology (Gas Tec) said Sunday.

Hesham Radwan, head of Gas Tec, added to Egypt Today that the daily rate leveled up to 35 vehicles from ten, after the petroleum prices hike decision.

On June 29, Egypt’s Cabinet has introduced new increases for the petroleum prices, where the 80-octane gasoline soared from LE 1.60 ($0.08) to LE 3.65 per liter, while the 92-octane rose from LE 3.50 to LE 5.00 per liter.

Radwan noted that the difference between the 80-octane and 92-octane gasoline prices became competitive and encouraging for car owners to transmit their cars to NGV.
The chairman added that Gas Tec targets attracting the private car owners and not only the taxis, in the coming period.

Gas Tec owns the biggest fueling network all over Egypt that reached 89 stations by the end of March and around 35 transmitting centers, where the capacity of one center reaches up to 60 vehicles per day, Radwan highlighted.
