CAIRO – 25 February 2024: Helwan Metal Equipment Company and Japan's Mizuha Co. signed Sunday a joint manufacturing contract to produce an atmospheric water generator (AWG) whose capacity will be 1,000 liters per day.

The two sides had been developing a prototype over a year as the device had to be designed to suit the weather in Egypt. The local component composes 70 percent of the product, and will be marketed in the Egyptian, Arab, and African markets.

The Electricity Holding Company (EEHC) and Mitsubishi Power signed in November an agreement to extend their contract on rehabilitating, developing, and improving the efficiency of the Sidi Kerir and Al-Atf power plants.

This extension builds upon the long-term agreement signed in May 2021 and is funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Mitsubishi Power will be working on six M701F gas turbines across the North Cairo, Sidi Krir, and Al-Atf power plants, aiming to strengthen them and enhance their efficiency.
