Egypt to boost economic cooperation with Germany's Bavaria

CAIRO - 18 February 2024: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sameh Shoukry, engaged in a meeting with Florian Herrmann, the Bavarian Minister of Federal and Media Affairs, with the aim of bolstering trade and investment cooperation between Egypt and the German state of Bavaria. 
 
Their discussion primarily focused on diversifying collaboration in specialized industries such as automotive, communications, technology, and artificial intelligence. 
 
This encounter took place during Shoukry's participation in the 60th Munich Security Conference 2024. 
 
During the meeting, the Egyptian minister highlighted the potential for cooperation in the energy sector, which holds great promise for Egypt's economy. He emphasized Egypt's status as a regional center for energy trading, production, and distribution, encompassing liquefied gas and green hydrogen.
 
Furthermore, he expressed Egypt's eagerness to attract Bavarian industrial companies to invest in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, emphasizing the logistical advantages and incentives Egypt offers to foreign investors, including its membership in various economic blocs.
 
In response, Herrmann expressed his enthusiasm to deepen cooperation with Egypt across multiple industries, explore additional investment opportunities, and gain insights into the benefits Egypt provides to foreign investors entering the Egyptian market.
