Egypt approves electricity export project MoU with Belgium’s Jan De Nul and EETC

The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company and Belgium’s Jan De Nul got the Egyptian government’s approval on an electricity export memorandum of understanding (MoU).

Both companies will begin studies on a project to export electricity from renewable energy from Egypt to Europe via a Mediterranean Sea line.

Madbouly affirmed Egypt's keeness to work with that company in this project, which he described as strategic for Egypt and Europe. The Prime Minister added that Egypt has ambitious plans to extend marine electricity transmission lines to several European countries, which discussions currently being carried out.

This came during Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly’s visit to Brussels to participate in the EU’s Global Gateway Forum on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi under the theme “Stronger Together through Sustainable Investment.”

EU’s Global Gateway Forum brings together over 40 high-level Government representatives, financial institutions and business representatives to discuss the world's investment needs, debate solutions and seal new deals. The forum carries discussions over various fields such as green energy and hydrogen, research and education, critical raw materials and transport corridors.
