CAIRO – October 25, 2023: According to Manal Talaat, the Executive Manager of Policies Monitoring and Evaluation Department at the Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC), Egyptian exports reached a total value of $51.6 billion in 2022.

This statement was made during a workshop held in the New Administrative Capital (NAC) by the IDSC. She further specified that non-petroleum exports accounted for approximately $35.3 billion.

Talaat highlighted the dominance of petroleum exports in the Egyptian export market, closely followed by agricultural exports.

The services sector also played a significant role, contributing 38 percent of the total exports with a value of $26.9 billion. Notably, travel and transport services were the leading contributors within the services sector.

In October, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) reported that the Egyptian government had disbursed EGP 40.7 billion (approximately $1.32 billion) to support exporters, as part of their efforts to strengthen the sector and achieve ambitious goals.

Over the past decade, the value of Egypt's total exports of locally-made products reached $143.1 billion. Annual exports nearly doubled from $10.9 billion in 2016 to $21.2 billion in 2022.

Egypt has made the development of its production and export sector a priority in order to reach an annual export target of $100 billion within five years. The government is placing a strong emphasis on stimulating investment across all sectors as part of this endeavor.
