CAIRO – 24 October 2023: The French Development Agency (AFD) is committed to support the implementation of the Nexus of Water, Food and Energy platform (NWFE program), Egypt country head of the AFD, Clémence Vidal de la Blache.
The AFD director country office announced that the AFD provided €100 million of blended financing stimulating the private sector, in addition to a €10 million grant from EU partners, with the aim of supporting the energy transition in Egypt.
She also stressed the agency’s keenness to participate in enhancing the participation of the private sector and moving forward towards implementing the projects included in the program and demonstrating the progress achieved during COP28.
This came during a meeting held by the Ministry of International Cooperation to follow up on mobilizing innovative financing tools to implement renewable energy projects with a capacity of 10GW within the Nexus of Water, Food and Energy platform (NWFE program) in preparation for COP28 and with the participation of the Ministry of Electricity, the EBRD, the World Bank, Germany, the USA and relevant entities.
