Cairo – October 19, 2023: Telecoms operating in Egypt have announced free international calls and messaging between Egypt and Gaza, enabling customers to contact family and friends across the border.

The initiative, which will last one week starting October 19, was launched in coordination with the Egyptian National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA).

State-owned Telecom Egypt announced that it has facilitated donations for humanitarian relief in Gaza through its WEPay application.

In parallel, Vodafone Egypt also explained that donations can be made through its Vodafone Cash service. The telecom revealed that customers will have five international minutes as well as five international messages free of charge to Gaza.

On Wednesday, Egyptians across the country gathered in protest against Israel’s intensifying aggression against Palestine.
