CAIRO – 18 October 2023: Egypt can be a regional logistics and trade hub that contributes to facilitating shipping and trade between the countries participating in the "Belt and Road Initiative", according to Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.

This came during the Prime Minister's participation in the opening session of the third edition of the "Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation" held in Beijing.

"Egypt provides an attractive investment environment in terms of infrastructure and strategic geographical location, contributing to linking international markets together, facilitating the smooth movement of supply chains without obstacles, and promoting the concept of connectivity in an open global economy," said Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.

The PM added that Egypt's accession to the BRICS group of countries was part of its efforts to enhance coordination among developing countries and emerging economies and contribute to the formulation of international economic policies.

"The Belt and Road Initiative represents an important development that enhances connectivity between the various countries of the initiative, achieving benefits for the peoples of both countries and the peoples of the world, and pushing for joint cooperation to achieve development and progress for all," according to Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.

The Belt and Road Initiative was launched by the Chinese government to enhance trade, investments, and infrastructure in more than 150 countries in Asia, Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. The initiative is a revival to what was known as “The Silk Road.”
