CAIRO - 17 October 2023: The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) has decided to increase regular transit fees by 15 percent for specific types of vessels.

The increase, announced on Monday, includes crude oil tankers, petroleum products carriers, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carriers, liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, chemical carriers, and other liquid materials carriers, as well as container ships, car carriers, passenger ships, and private floating units.

Additionally, the Suez Canal Authority, in a navigational circular, approved a 5 percent increase in regular transit fees for dry bulk cargo ships, general cargo ships, and roll-on/roll-off ships, among others.

These increases are set to be implemented starting mid-January 2024.

The navigational circular issued by the Traffic Management Administration clarified that container ships directly coming from ports in Northwest Europe and heading directly to the Far East will be exempt from the mentioned increase.
