CAIRO - 21 August 2023: Suez Canal Authority Chairman (SCA) Osama Rabie met Sunday with South Korean Ambassador in Cairo Kim Yong-Hyun, and his accompanying delegation to discuss partnership opportunities.

Rabie presented the recent navigational projects, shedding light on the Suez Canal southern sector’s navigational project.

SCA is continuously developing the Suez Canal navigation systems to enhance competitiveness and increase its global ranking. In addition, SCA aims to raise navigation safety and gain the trust of shipping agencies.

Rabie also explained that SCA took the initiative towards green transformation through promoting the usage of clean energy in the stations along the Suez Canal, combating oil spills, and participating in initiatives that help marine units work with green fuel.

Kim Yong-Hyun commended his visit to the Suez Canal, stating that the canal is a sustainable strategic path for South Korean trade.

Yong-Hyun also explained that South Korea’s foreign trade approximates and exceeds 70 percent, making the Suez Canal an addition to the Korean trade routes, especially due to the new navigational system development projects.
