Egypt discusses investment opportunities with Tarastan

CAIRO - 21 August 2023: Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir, Tatarstan’s Minister of Trade and Industry Oleg Korbchenko, and Tatarstan’s Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov met Monday at the ministry’s headquarters at the New Administrative Capital to discuss investment opportunities. 
 
The visit comes as part of the minister’s plan to enhance cooperation and industrial integration with major republics of Russia and the Eurasian Union.  
 
Minister Samir expressed interest in developing the automobile industry by outlining a strategy and studying joint manufacturing possibilities. The plan in the talk studies the possibility of supplying car components from Tatarstan and exporting to African countries after manufacturing in Egypt. 
 
The minister presented multiple project opportunities to the delegate of Tatarstan, including a new logistical center project for grains in the Damietta Port, or in one of the strategic locations in the Suez Canal Zone. 
 
These project invitations aim to make use of the existing road network being paved to connect the African countries. 
 
Korbchenko clarified the purpose of his visit includes the operation of major companies in the fields of oil, gas, trucks, heavy vehicles, dairy products, and medical equipment to seek and continue investing in the Egyptian market. 
 
Also, Korbchenko expressed interest in developing new water pumps in Egypt, which goes hand in hand with promoting the agricultural sector in order to ensure food security in the region. 
 
The Tatarstan delegation is set to visit the Ain Sokhna industrial zone and attend multiple meetings with Egyptian companies, organized by the Federation of  Egyptian Chambers of Commerce.
