The UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) was launched earlier this week in a signing ceremony attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and the UN Resident Coordinator in Egypt, Elena Panova.

The UNSDCF “provides guidance to UN Country Teams as they plan, finance, deliver and evaluate their support to countries in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), typically over a five-year cycle.”

The framework focuses on realizing human rights, promoting gender equality, empowering women, girls and youth, deepening resilience to climate change, disasters and epidemics and ensuring sustainability, as well as supporting transparent accountability and good governance.

Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation and co-chair of the Steering Committee of the UNSDCF between Egypt and the United Nations, said that the signing of the new partnership framework for 2023-2027 ushers in a new strategic phase in joint cooperation relations with one of the largest and most important international organizations, the United Nations.

Al Mashat highlighted that the 2023-2027 UNSCDF includes five sets of results according to each of the following pillars: prosperity, people, planet, governance, and women with National Council for Women.
