CAIRO - 12 April 2023: The eastern breakwater project in Damietta Port has been completed as part of a plan to transform Egypt into a global center for trade and logistics.

As Egypt develops all seaports along the two seas it overlooks, the Damietta project is a step to qualify the port to become one of the pivotal ports for transit trade on the Mediterranean.

The Ministry of Transport is also carrying out the western breakwater project in the port of Damietta at a total length of 5.4 kilometers.

Earlier, a contract was signed to manage and operate the Tahya Misr 1 terminal of the port of Damietta in partnership with a consortium of companies: Eurojet Germany, Contship Italy, Hapag Lloyd, Middle East Logistics Group, and Container Engineering Company.

Another contract was signed to manage and operate container terminals in Sokhna Port and Terminal 100 of Dekheila Port in partnership with Hutchison Ports Co. and international shipping companies COSCO, MSC, and CMA.

The government continues to develop the Port of Damietta in cooperation with the Holding Companies for Maritime and Land Transport and the Damietta Port Authority to expand the port and establish a new terminal.
