Egypt imposes fees on hotel accommodation for Tourism Support Fund's favor

CAIRO - 1 March 2023: Egypt decided to impose an additional fee for hotel accommodation at 1 percent of the price of an individual’s stay or a hotel night, in favor of the Tourism and Antiquities Support Fund.
 
The decision will enter into force, Wednesday March 1, and fees will be paid at a rate of not less than LE 5 and not more than LE 50, and the same percentage will be imposed on safari yachts.
 
The decision will be applied to hotel establishments, tourist companies, restaurants and bazaars, as reported, Tuesday, in the Official Gazette.
 
The decision referred to the opinion of the Egyptian Federation of Tourist Chambers, and noted that the establishments will receive automation services, digital transformation and training in return for the money they will contribute to the fund.
