CAIRO - 8 February 2023: Director of the Lending Operations in European Union Neighboring Countries at the European Investment Bank (EIB) Lionel Rapaille said the bank's delegation is deeply interested in promoting cooperation with Egypt in various domains and is planning to hold meetings with several ministers to review enhancing collaboration in financing top-priority projects for Egypt.

He lauded the efforts exerted by the International Cooperation Ministry in coordination with other government bodies concerned to prepare for the delegation's visit.

Rapaille showed deep interest in the Nexus of Water, Food and Energy (NWFE) as well as NWFE+ for the transportation sector.

He made the remarks on Wednesday during a meeting of the EIB delegation under Rapaille with Minister of International Cooperation Mashat.

Mashat said the EIB team expressed interest in contributing to projects of renewable energy transition, adaptation of agricultural crops in Delta area as well as water desalination using solar energy and other climate-relevant projects.

She stressed the government's keenness on proceeding with cooperation efforts with multilateral and bilateral partners.

In 2022, the International Cooperation Ministry agreed with the EIB on financing several projects, including water treatment and railways projects.

The development cooperation portfolio between Egypt and the EIB stood at about 3.49 billion euros for financing 20 projects.
