CAIRO - 15 September 2022: Telecom Egypt announced Thursday that it has successfully completed the basic tests to operate the integrated electronic communications chips "eSIM" on its networks.

The company elaborated that the tests came in cooperation with major companies specialized in this field to provide the best technical solutions that guarantee the provision of new advanced services.

It said, in a statement, that with the successful completion of these tests, Telecom Egypt networks have confirmed their readiness to provide the eSIM service to its customers upon its license, while the company is waiting for the regulatory parameters that will be approved by the National Telecom Regulatory Authority to launch the service in Egypt.

The eSIM service allows customers to keep the line without the need to put the traditional chip in mobile devices, which contributes to saving the customer's cost of obtaining services and improves the customer's experience in using more than one line on the same mobile device.

Telecom Egypt achieved a net profit of LE 3.78 billion during the first six months of 2022, compared to profits of LE 3.87 billion in the comparable period from 2021, including account minority rights.
