Petroleum min.: Natural gas represents 65% of Egypt's total consumption of fossil fuel

CAIRO - 31 May 2022: Petroleum Minister Tarek Al Molla said on Tuesday Egypt succeeded in maximizing the use of natural gas within a framework of its strategy for sustainable energy, launched in 2016, upping the use of natural gas to about 65 percent of its total consumption of the fossil fuel.
 
Molla was speaking during a panel discussion on the green industry and way to the UN COP27 as a part of Egypt Can with Industry, held by the Emigration Ministry.
 
Molla pointed out that the national strategy for sustainable energy had been updated to include hydrogen as clean energy, mentioning the signing of agreements and cooperation protocols with large companies on transferring the technology of hydrogen production.
 
The minister referred to one of the most important projects, currently established, to take advantage of the agricultural waste and turn it into products like the rice straw-based medium density fiberboard (MDF) project.
