Egypt's production index for transformative, extractive industries rises 8.39% in March

CAIRO - 26 May 2022: Production index of manufacturing and extractive industries (excluding crude oil and petroleum products) rose 8.39 percent in March on a monthly basis, recording 119.38 (primary), compared to 110.14 in February (final), according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
 
 
It noted that the beverage industry index reached 350.77 during March 2022, compared to 288.8 in February 2022, an increase of 21.46 percent, in order to increase production to prepare for entry into the summer season.
 
The non-ferrous metal products (bricks, glass, and cement) industry index decreased 9.67 percent due to the availability of stock, to reach 87.18 during March 2022 compared to 96.51 in February 2022.
 
 
The index of the base metal industry reached 63.92 during March 2022 compared to70.62 in February 2022, marking a decrease of 9.49 percent, according to market needs.
 
 
CAPMAS has updated the index methodology using the base year 2012/2013 and at the level of the industrial activity indices according to the Industrial Activity Index (ISIC Rev.4) and using the monthly index (for producer prices based on 2012/2013).
