CAIRO – 13 July 2017: Samsung Beni Suef factory exports amounted to $790 million in 2015 and target to export around 80-85 percent of its screen production to the MENA region, the company’s vice chairperson told Daily News Egypt Wednesday.

Sherif Barakat added that Beni Suef factory’s investments hit $270 million so far, noting that it produces around six million devices annually, subject to doubling.

Samsung is one of the largest exporters of electronic devices in Egypt, Barakat said, highlighting that its Beni Suef plant is considered one of the most important five plants owned by the mother company across the world.

The vice chairman stated that Samsung is leading the local market of TV screens with a 35 percent market share and topping the mobile market after it acquired 42 percent of the mobile market during the first half of 2017.

The market sales of screens and mobile phones fell by 25 percent each in the first six months of 2017 year-on-year to reach $1.2 billion each, Barakat said.
