ECBM: Egypt's exports of building materials hit $1.19B in 2 months

CAIRO - 6 April 2022: Egypt's exports of building materials, refractory and metallurgy industries hit $1.19 billion from January to February of 2022, recording an increase of 29 percent, compared with $926 million during the same period last year.
 
According to a monthly report of the Export Council for Building Materials, Refractory & Metallurgy Industries (ECBM), the UAE topped the list of importing countries by $221 million, followed by Canada with a value of $120 million in the first two months of 2022.
 
Italy came in the third place with a value of $113 million, followed by Saudi Arabia with $98 million and Spain with $71 million, the report said.
 
Exports to Thailand noticeably soared by 3,244 percent to register $34 million and to Ghana by 350 percent to $25 million from January to February of 2022.
 
Exports to the US increased by 59 percent to stand at $33 million from January to February 2022, against $21 million in the corresponding period of last year.
