CAIRO – 12 July 2017: Minister of Investment Sahar Nasr held a meeting on Wednesday with a number of development partners to discuss a new program aims to create one million jobs for the Egyptian youth in three years.

The meeting was attended by the Swiss ambassador in Egypt, Paul Garnier, Egypt Country Director of the International Labor Organization (ILO), Peter Van Rooij, representatives from the World Bank (WB), U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and the embassies of Canada, Australia and Holland.

The minister stressed on the priority of creating job vacancies for youth, supporting the small and medium enterprises (SMEs), promoting training and developing skills.
The new program targets creating 600,000 vacancies in the main economic sectors, 200,000 from the entrepreneurs and 200,000 sustainable jobs in the poor areas, to be in line with Egypt Vision 2030, Peter Van Rooij stated.

On Tuesday, Nasr signed an agreement with Flat6Labs and Egypt Entrepreneurship and Investment Company to invest LE 10 million ($559,070) in emerging companies.
