CAIRO - 8 February 2022: Egypt’s exports to Russia  hiked 17.5 percent during 2021, recording $489 million, compared to $416 million, according to the Egyptian Minister of Industry, Nevine Gamea.

The minister noted that the Russian market is one of the most important markets receiving Egyptian exports globally, noting that the current stage is witnessing an unprecedented economic momentum between Cairo and Moscow based on the steady increase in the rates of trade exchange annually and negotiations of a free trade agreement between Egypt and the countries of the Eurasian Union, in addition to a project to establish Russian industrial zone in Egypt.

This came during a meeting with Egyptian Minister of Trade Nevine Gamea, Georgiy Borisenko, the Russian ambassador to Cairo, to discuss the latest developments regarding the decision of the Russian Federal Authority for Consumer Protection to stop shipments of Egyptian oranges destined for the Russian market.

Gamea said that an Egyptian government delegation will visit Russia this month to prepare for the Egyptian participation in the Saint Petersburg conference, which will be held next June, noting that Egypt will participate in the forum's activities with a distinguished pavilion that reflects the achievements of the Egyptian state, as the forum's guest of honor.
