CAIRO - 19 January 2022: President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi directed Tuesday to raise the minimum wage to LE 2,700, according to the official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic.

 

Sisi also approved two bonuses at a cost of about LE 8 billion; the first is a periodic bonus for employees who are addressed by the civil service law at 7% of the job wage, and the second is a special bonus for workers not addressed by the civil service law at 13% of the basic salary.


 

This came during Sisi’s meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait, Deputy Minister of Finance for financial policies Ahmed Kojak, and Deputy Minister of Finance for the Public Treasury, Ehab Abu Eish.


 

The meeting dealt with "a review of the draft budget for the next fiscal year 2022-2023," according to a statement issued by the Presidency of the Republic.


 

Sisi also directed to increase the additional incentive for both those addressed and not addressed by the civil service law, at a total cost of about LE 18 billion.

 

 President Sisi directed an announcement to appoint 30,000 teachers annually for a period of 5 years, in order to meet the needs of developing the education sector.

 

He also directed the adoption of a new additional incentive to develop teachers in the education sector, bringing its total to about LE 3.1 billion.

 

President Sisi directed allocating an amount of LE 1.5 billion to finance the additional quality incentive for faculty members and their assistants in universities, centers, institutes and research bodies, as well as financing the implementation of the new law on the salaries of full-time professors.

 

He directed the inclusion of the specialties of dentistry, physical therapy and nursing to the previous decision to raise the remuneration for internship doctors, which is paid to them during the training period in the year of internship.

 

The official spokesman explained that the Minister of Finance presented the most important objectives of the draft budget for the fiscal year 2022-2023, which seeks to reduce the total deficit to about 6.3% of GDP, continuing to achieve a primary surplus of 1.5 percent of GDP, reducing the debt ratio of public budget agencies to GDP, and increasing the wages item to about LE 400 billion.


 

The official spokesman added that the President was also briefed during the meeting on the developments in the development of the tax system, directing his sovereignty to the commitment of the Ministry of Finance to complete those projects related to the mechanization of the tax authority, the electronic invoice system, and the mechanization and development of tax procedures, before the end of the current fiscal year.

 

The existing efforts to activate the unified organizational structure of the Tax Authority, as well as the start of integrating income and value-added missions in Cairo governorate, and modern work systems followed in this framework, as well as the executive position of various measures to combat tax evasion, whether through tax campaigns or through the electronic tax unit In addition to the position of the tax revenue for the first half of the current fiscal year, which witnessed a growth rate of about 17% over the same period last year, and an increase of 5% over the target, where the President directed, in this context, to take all necessary measures to facilitate dealing with financiers .

 

President Sisi was also briefed on the axes of the strategy for developing the customs system, and the most important programs and initiatives taken in this regard, including the executive position on the application of the pre-registration system for shipments, directing his sovereignty to the need to take into account the application of all international standards related to the quality of goods imported to Egypt in this framework, as well as to work on starting the application of the pre-registration system for shipments in air ports.

 

Efforts to develop customs release times were also reviewed, as well as the result of the recent study conducted in this regard in cooperation with the World Bank, which showed a decrease in release times by about 50%, as the President directed to continue working to reduce release times to reach the same day shipments arrive. .

 

President Sisi was also briefed on the savings achieved for importers as a result of the automation and governance of the customs system, as well as the simplification of customs release procedures, directing his sovereignty to closely follow up on the commitment to implement those initiatives and programs related to the development of the customs system.
