Egypt set to lay out infrastructure of charging stations of electric cars in January

CAIRO – 22 December 2021: The infrastructure of charging stations for electric cars are set to be laid in January, said Engineer Salma Hussein, Head of the Licensing Sector at the Electricity Utility and Consumer Protection Regulatory Authority.

 

She said that that the agency has a committee to settle disputes between the parties to the electricity utility to ensure that no resort to the courts, pointing out that the agency issued 130 licenses for the production and distribution of electricity, pointing out that the agency is keen to provide all facilities and procedures to investors with Establishing rules to ensure the application of quality standards.

 

Hussein further added that the regulatory framework for the production of electric power from waste is being finalized in cooperation with the ministries of finance, local development and military production.

 

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli checked Monday evening the model of an electric car produced by General Motors, and is expected to be offered in the Egyptian market in 2022.

 

During the meeting, CEO of Al Mansour Group Ankush Arora presented a proposal to launch the manufacturing of electric cars in Egypt, which is a goal the government has been working on along with the localization of electric automotive feeding industries.

 

In November, the prime minister met with the CEOs of General Motors and Mansour Group, who said they would begin selecting the features of the electric car to be offered in the Egyptian market.
