Mashat noted that the the economic reforms implemented in Egypt over the past seven years have helped enhance growth and the Egyptian economy’s capability to face up to the negative impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic.

She added that Egypt was the only country in the Middle East and North Africa region that was able to achieve economic growth in 2020, noting that the International Monetary Fund expects the Egyptian economy to continue its growth at a rate of 5.2 percent in 2021-22 fiscal year.

Behn hailed the positive results of the Egyptian economic reform program and congratulated Egypt over being selected to host the UN climate change summit in 2022, COP27.
