Therefore, “we need to build on the topics we discussed at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) to support the global trend to achieve sustainable development,” Molla added.

The minister made the remarks during the 6th Ministerial Meeting of the East Mediterranean Gas Forum, which was held Thursday in Cairo with the participation of his counterparts from Cyprus, Greece, Israel, Jordan and Palestinian president advisor, in addition to some officials and representatives of Italy, France, the European Union, the US, and the World Bank.

Molla said natural gas is the cleanest fuel source in terms of carbon emissions, adding that it is reliable and easily accessible in the global energy mix.

During the meeting, the minister pointed out to the achievements made by the forum in just three years, noting that a draft charter has been prepared, discussed and approved.

The forum was then declared an international organization, and the basic documents for establishing its general secretariat were agreed upon within four months, he added.

Molla noted that facilitating bilateral, trilateral and multilateral cooperation at the regional level has contributed to a global interest in the forum.
