CAIRO – 7 November 2021: The Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek el-Molla invited US Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm to participate in the upcoming meeting of the East Mediterranean Gas Forum, scheduled to be held soon.

 

The Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum said, in a statement, Sunday that El-Molla held a session of talks with Granholm, on the sidelines of his participation in the World Climate Summit in Glasgow, Scotland.

 

The two sides discussed aspects of cooperation between Egypt and the United States in the field of energy and partnership in this field. They also reviewed the developments of cooperation in the East Mediterranean Gas Forum, of which the United States participates as an observer.

 

They also discussed the future of cooperation between Egypt and the United States through the joint strategic dialogue initiative in the field of energy, in addition to examining the results of the recent meetings of the East Mediterranean Gas Forum.

 

El-Molla invited the US Secretary of Energy to come to Cairo and participate in the upcoming ministerial meeting to be held soon, stressing the United States' support for the forum.

 

“There are intensive activities currently through the advisory committee for the gas industry in the forum, with the participation of the US Department of Energy and major US companies in the world such as ExxonMobil and Bechtel,” he said.

 

The two ministers discussed projects for transporting and exporting natural gas through the efforts of the forum countries to deliver gas to Europe and the measures that have been taken to export Egyptian gas to Lebanon via Jordan and Syria.
