CAIRO – 9 July 2017: Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker said on Sunday that four contracts of Dabaa nuclear power station were signed in initials, two of them were revised by the State Council and the other two are still in the pipeline.

Addressing a press conference, Shaker said energy projects implemented in tandem with the German company Siemens would save the state 1.3 billion dollars annually.

Additional 14,800 megawatts will be added to the power grid by May, he added.

State institutions consume 4 percent of electricity, while households consume 47 percent, he said.

He noted that he discussed with the Japanese state minister means of establishing coal power station in the coming period.

There are offers by several states vis-a-vis the coal station and the best offer will be selected, he said.
