Egypt denies introducing new 100-pound coins to market

CAIRO – 15 August 2021: The Egyptian Cabinet denied what was circulated on some websites and social media pages about news regarding the launch of new 100-pound coins for circulation in the markets.

The Media Center of the Council of Ministers contacted the Ministry of Finance, which denied the news, stressing that there is no truth to offering new 100-pound coins for circulation in the markets, according to a statement issued by the Cabinet on Sunday.

The ministry confirmed that all coins circulating in the market are as they are in their customary form without any change or offering of any new coins.
