CAIRO – 27 May 2021:The Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) and Jordan's National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) on Thursday signed an extension of a contract to supply natural gas.

The two companies also inked an appendix of another contract to expand the natural gas network in Jordan.

This comes on the sidelines of a visit paid by Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tareq el Molla to Amman, where he held talks with his Jordanian counterpart Hala Zawati on means of boosting bilateral cooperation in the fields of oil, natural gas and mineral resources.

The two ministers agreed that the Egyptian petroleum sector would train Jordanian cadres in the areas of oil and natural gas.

In press statements following the talks, Molla lauded cooperation between Egypt and Jordan, especially in the gas sector, which constitutes an important economic tributary for the two countries.

On her part, the Jordanian energy minister underlined the importance of expanding cooperation in the gas domain, hailing the significant progress in relations between the two countries, thanks to the strong support of the two countries’ political leaderships.
