Egypt imposes duties on imports of some types of aluminum for 3 years

CAIRO – 13 April 2021: The Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry, Nevine Gamea issued a decree to impose final preventive measures on imports of aluminum products, which include molds, cylinders and wire.

 

The Egyptian Minister explained, in a statement, Tuesday, that the decision is effective for a period of three years, starting from mid-April, at a rate of 16.5 percent of the CIF value, with a minimum of $ 333 per ton for the first year, and by 13.5 percent of the CIF value, with a minimum of $ 271 per ton during the second year. "And by 10.5 percent of the CIF value, with a minimum of $ 211 per ton during the third year,” it added.

 

Assistant Minister for Economic Affairs, Ibrahim Al-Sigini, said that the Minister of Trade and Industry had previously agreed, last April, to the recommendation of the advisory committee, in accordance with the results and recommendations reached by the commercial treatments sector, to start implementing preventive measures against the large increase in imports of the category of aluminum products, which includes molds, cylinders and wire, has started, and the announcement of the start of the investigation into the Egyptian facts has been published.
