CAIRO – 9 July 2020: A comprehensive database for all people with disabilities will be created to facilitate their access to services, as per the law concerning the rights of people with disabilities.

The executive regulations of the law stipulate:

The Ministry of Health, in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Solidarity, creates a database for persons with disabilities that includes a special record for each person, using the database available at the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics.

All governmental and non-governmental agencies are obligated to deal with persons with disabilities through a disability identification card, and the integrated services issued by the Ministry of Social Solidarity.

The Ministry of Health is committed to setting standards and procedures for the confidentiality of data and levels of access to it, determining accessibility policies, and taking all technical measures to secure the database.

Governmental and non-governmental agencies shall be obligated to notify both the Ministry of Social Solidarity and the Ministry of Health with an update of any change in the social, health or employment status of a person with disability.
