Cairo, Moscow review preparations for Russia-Africa summit

MOSCOW - 6 September 2019: Russian President's Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and Egyptian Ambassador to Moscow Ehab Nasr have reviewed preparations for the upcoming Russia-Africa summit, slated for October 24 in Sochi.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement Thursday that they touched upon the upcoming event and some protocol and organization aspects for African leaders, heads of governments and secretaries of key African associations.

The ministry pointed out that an organizational meeting will be held at the Russian Foreign Ministry headquarters in the last ten days of September.

The summit will be co-chaired by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, who currently heads the African Union.

This is the first event at this level in the history of Russian-African relations, as more than 40 heads of African states will partake, as well as leaders of regional associations and organizations
