Islamic Jihad marches in Gaza, calls on Egypt to resume reconciliation efforts

CAIRO – 8 September 2017: Islamic Jihad Movement organized a march in Gaza on Friday calling on Egypt to resume reconciliation efforts.

After the Friday prayer, the Islamic Jihad Movement’s leader Khalid al-Batsh gave a speech, announcing six demands from the concerned parties to resume the mediation between Fatah and Hamas.

Here are the six demands:

First: Egypt needs to resume its efforts to achieve reconciliation between Fatah and Hamas.

Second: Abo Mazen should mandate an official delegation to Gaza to discuss the reconciliation mechanisms according to latest talks in Cairo.

Third: Fatah should reconsider its punitive measures against Gaza Strip.

Fourth: Hamas has to dissolve the administrative committee that it had formed to run Gaza affairs.

Fifth: Implementation of Cairo Agreement adopted in 2011 under the auspices of Egypt.

Sixth: Do not approve holding the so-called the national council of the Liberation Organization in Ramallah without a prior national consensus.

The marches condemned the attacks of the Zionists against the country and the sacred, the cruel siege on the resisters in Gaza, sanctions, and condemnation of the merciless punishments , the repetition of the national unity, consolidation of the internal front and raising the public interest.
