CAIRO – 7 September 2017: A number of social media users negatively reacted to what Human Rights Watch depicted as "systemic use of torture" by security forces and police against prison inmates.
Earlier on Wednesday, HRW published a report accusing the Egyptian authorities of torturing prisoners, and calling on the United Nations, in case the police did not stop it, to punish those who commit such violations. The report interviewed a number of detainees who were tortured by police in the period from 2014 to 2016, according to the report.
"Why are not you concerned over what happens in Myanmar," said a tweet, while another one accuses the Rights group of being operated by Qatari money.

“This organization is intimidated by what is happening inside the prisons, and cannot bat an eye to the people who are being burnt alive! This organization is only interested in money and who pays more,” read a Facebook comment.

In response to the HRW report, the Foreign Ministry condemned Thursday "the unfounded and biased" report, which manifest the unprofessionalism at its best quoting unknown and anonymous sources.
The ministry further condemned that the group deliberately ignored the progress made in the field of promoting human rights in Egypt over the past few years, demonstrating its deliberate intention to promote and incite violence.
