CAIRO – 5 July 2026: Prime Minister, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, chaired a meeting on Saturday to review ongoing preparations for launching the second phase of the presidential "A Decent Life" initiative, which aims to develop villages across rural Egypt.
At the start of the meeting, Madbouly said the discussions came as part of a series of follow-up meetings to review all aspects of the implementation of the initiative's second phase. He stressed that the preparations are being carried out in line with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to ensure projects are implemented according to the planned while making the best use of the allocated public funding. The projects are intended to improve the quality and efficiency of services provided to citizens across various sectors.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of addressing challenges and lessons learned during the implementation of the first phase to enhance progress of development and public service projects. He further called for expanding the use of locally manufactured components in project implementation.
During the meeting, Eng. Ahmed Abdel Azim, Managing Director at Dar Al-Handasah, presented a number of proposed mechanisms for implementing second-phase projects. He said the proposed approach takes into account the challenges encountered during the first phase and is designed to accelerate implementation.
Further, Madbouly was briefed on progress in the first phase of the initiative. Abdel Azim said work has been completed in 826 villages to date. Between June 9 and July 5, an additional 31 villages were completed, while 90 projects were finalized and 120 projects across various sectors were officially handed over.
He also reviewed a number of coordination measures and procedures needed to expedite the completion and commissioning of the remaining projects, enabling residents of the targeted villages to benefit from the improved services as soon as possible.
