Haya Karima implements 17 projects in Sohag governorate with total coast of LE 253 M

CAIRO – 17 January 2022:  Up to 17 national projects have been implemented in Sohag governorate as part of Haya Karima Presidential Initiative with a total coast of LE 253 million.

Akhmim new city, has only eight projects at a cost of LE 284 million. Water and sewage networks have been implemented in the governorate at a cost of LE 117 million.

The new utility network has been implemented as well at a total coast of LE 22 million.

Other projects of a treatment plant project with a capacity of 12,000 cubic meters is still under construction, at a cost of LE 194 million.

Also, nearly 14 residential buildings with 336 housing units for the “social housing” are still under construction.

Haya Karima presidential invite has succeeded to implement 500 electricity projects at a cost of LE 1.425 billion, along with 141 sewage projects at a cost of LE1.550 billion, at its first phase.

Decent life [Haya Karima] invite has sought to work in parallel in various development fields such as health, sanitation, electricity, roads and housing, at a cost of LE 10.5 billion, during the first phase.

Up to 100 health units were established at a cost of LE450 million, and equipped according to the new comprehensive health insurance model.

Also, other 1,000 paving projects Roads and bridges projects have been implemented at a cost of LE 3.825 billion, according to the invite reports.

Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli described Haya Karima national project last July as an “icon” project for Egypt’s re-building process with the aim of developing the life of more than the half of Egyptians.

He added that Haya Karima is truly Egypt's 21st century project. “It is all over the country and involves thousands of simultaneous projects” Madbouly said.

 In his speech at Haya Karima national project first conference, Madbouli described Haya Karima as a 100 percent Egyptian venture with total of investments of EGP 700 billion, including EGP 270 billion in the initial phase.

 “Haya Karima” is a national project to develop the Egyptian countryside. It started as an initiative launched by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on 2 January, 2019.

 It was then transformed into a national project early in 2021 with the aim of improving the living conditions and the quality of life for the neediest categories of the rural society nationwide and contributing to advancing the level of daily services provided to citizens.

 

The “Haya Karima” project seeks to unify the efforts of all the state’s institutions in cooperation with the civil society, the private sector companies and the development partners inside and outside Egypt in the sustainable development field

The project also aims, through eliminating multi-dimensional poverty, to alleviate the burden shouldered by the citizens, especially the neediest families in the targeted villages and centers totaling 4,658 villages with total investments estimated at LE 700 billion.

This contributes to improving the life of more than half of the Egyptian population through setting an integrated developmental roadmap which its goals and axes are consistent with the sustainable development goals of the United Nations.

This comes through securing a comprehensive array of services and that include decent housing, health, education, culture, infrastructure, clean environment and productive communities to ensure sustainable development in the targeted villages and centers.

The project’s goals are advancing the economic, social and environmental levels of the neediest families in poor villages, empowering them to obtain all primary services, security job opportunities for these communities and maximizing their production capabilities in a way that ensures a decent life for them.

The project also aims at organizing the efforts of the civil society, enhancing the cooperation between civil society and all state institutions and encouraging local communities to participate in building human capabilities and boosting the value of the homeland.
