CAIRO – 6 January 2021: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry made a Wednesday phone call to his Israeli counterpart to discuss the upcoming quartet meeting of Egypt, Jordan, France and Germany that aims to push the peace process forward in the region.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement Shoukry made a simila phone call to his Palestinian counterpart Riyad el-Malki, adding that the members of the quartet meeting will also coordinate with the U.S. and other concerned parties to reach a fair and sustainable resolution to the Palestinian issue.

Shoukry, Malki and their Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi, respectively, met Dec. 19 to discuss means to resolve the plight of Palestinians with the new U.S. administration. The minister met with Sisi on the same day, where he reiterated Egypt’s continuous support to a Palestinian state.
