CAIRO – 15 March 2021: The public prosecution ordered to refer to criminal court three persons involved in a woman’s murder after they attacked her apartment because she was receiving a male visitor.

One of the three accused is the landlord of a residential building in the Al Sallam district in Cairo, where the woman lives.

On Saturday, the three defendants intimidated the woman resident and threatened to harm her morally as they stormed her residence carrying bladed weapons. She was horrified that she rushed to the balcony, threw herself, and died.

The three persons committed a felony of unlawfully detaining the woman victim. They also physically tortured a man, who was visiting the woman, by shackling and beating him with the hands and wooden sticks, causing injuries that were proven in a medical report.

Based on four eyewitnesses, the Public Prosecution established evidence against the defendants and referred them to trial.

Egypt’s National Council for Women (NCW) issued a statement on Saturday condemning the murder of a woman at the hands of her landlord and two other suspects.
