CAIRO - 10 March 2020: Egypt welcomed on Wednesday the vote of confidence given to the unified Libyan government by the House of Representatives, according to a statement released by Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.

"Egypt is looking forward to working with the unified national government during the interim phase and supporting its efforts to meet its commitments based on the political resolution roadmap in terms of holding the elections on time late this year, implementing the outcomes of the 5 plus 5 joint military committees and the economic track meetings to reach security and stability in the region," the statement read.

Earlier, the Libyan parliament granted confidence to the new government, as Dbeibeh said pledged to work to achieve national reconciliation in Libya, adding "Libyans are one unit, one heart."

He stressed that Libya should be a single, undivided unit. “With unity, we will deliver Libya to safety.”

In a speech after the Libyan parliament granted confidence to the new government, Dabaiba further noted that many entitlements are waiting for the Libyan parliament to be discussed, calling for an end to the period of division that Libya has witnessed.

On 8 February, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi had received Dbeibeh in Cairo, said Egyptian Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Radi in a statement.

The new Libyan Prime Minister expressed his honor to meet President Sisi, praising Egypt’s sincere and effective efforts to resolve the Libyan crisis during the past period and resulted in the convergence of views between conflicting Libyan parties and an end to the state of division.

He also appreciated Egypt's support for Libyan institutions in combating terrorism and extremist groups.

Dbeibeh voiced the Libyan government and people’s aspiration to establish a comprehensive partnership with Egypt to reproduce a successful development experience, especially with regard to restoring security and stability and launching the development and reform process.
