CAIRO – 9 March 2021: A fire that broke out in a gas pipeline in Beheira's Idku Tuesday due to its explosion was contained and put out with no injuries or deaths.

In December, the main gas pipeline in Arish, North Sinai, exploded in Sabika area, west of the city, North Sinai Governor Mohamed Abdel-Fadil Shousha announced in a statement announced.

The explosion did not affect the gas supply to the Masa`id steam station, the citizens' housings in the city, or the industrial zone in Central Sinai, he added.

The governor confirmed that there is coordination with the Egyptian Natural Gas Company (GASCO) immediately after the explosion, saying that the company immediately closed the control valves to quickly put out the fire.

No casualties were reported, he said, adding that the investigation was launched to detect the cause of the explosion.
