CAIRO - 7 March 2020: Egypt's Health Ministry announced in a Saturday statement that 588 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed cases to 185,922.



Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 38 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 10,954.



As many as 432 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 143,575 so far, the spokesman said. 

 

Egypt’s Health Minister Hala Zayed said on March 5, that 1,141 citizens have received the first coronavirus vaccine dose on Thursday, the first day of the vaccination campaign targeting the elderly and those suffering from chronic diseases.

 

The ministry has allocated 40 centers in the governorates for citizens to get the vaccine, including the Nozha medical center, Al-Qattameya medical center and Al-Zohor medical center in Cairo.
