Shoukry, Blinken emphasize strategic Egyptian-US relations

CAIRO – 23 February 2021: Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken underscored the strategic relationship between Egypt and the United States during a phone call, Tuesday.

Shoukri congratulated Blinken on assuming his post as the top US diplomat wishing him and the new US administration luck and success.

Egypt’s Foreign Minister reasserted keenness on continuing to broaden the horizons of bilateral cooperation to serve the benefit of both sides on all fronts.

Both officials discussed means of promoting relations and exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.

They affirmed commitment to the historical partnership between their countries which is based on respect to mutual interests and fostering political, economic and cultural relations, the statement read.

They agreed on boosting cooperation in the field of human rights and maintaining consultations and coordination on all issues serving their joint interests, it went on to say.
