CAIRO – 20 February 2021: The Egyptian and Spanish naval forces conducted on Saturday a transient exercise in the Red Sea, within the framework of enhancing military cooperation between the two countries.

The Egyptian frigate “Sharm El Sheikh” and Spain’s frigate “ESPS Reina Sofia” were involved in the exercise, Egyptian military spokesman Tamer El-Refae said in a statement.

The exercise included various professional activities that have shown the capabilities of the joint naval units in carrying out their duties with precision and proficiency.

This is the second recent training between naval troops of both countries in the Red Sea.

“This reflects the importance of these joint trainings in fostering bilateral (Egyptian-Spanish) relations and strengthening military cooperation between the two countries, in a way that effectively contributes to preserving naval security and stability in the region,” the spokesman added.
